The Indigenous Friendship Society of Revelstoke was formed to raise public awareness and to increase knowledge of Indigenous people in the Revelstoke area, present and past. Our aim is to foster and build support for Indigenous people, heritage and culture within our community. We are open to all people supportive of Indigenous perspectives.
The Every Child Matters t-shirt was designed by a local Indigenous student, Mya Manson, and printed locally by Integrated Apparel. Proceeds from the sales of the shirts go to supporting local Indigenous folk, providing education to the community and to supporting Indigenous organizations. This year we will send a donation to Skwlax te Secwepemc to help in their recovery from the devastating wildfires this past summer.
The Orange Shirt movement was started by Phyllis Webstad, commemorating the orange blouse that was taken from her on her first day of residential school. Her story can be found at orangshirtday.org
Thank you for standing up for all children, and for supporting the Indigenous Friendship Society of Revelstoke.
